Freddy Sumner, while operating as the Division VP for C.W. Matthews, was part of the Center Airfield project. The project was designed to improve the efficiency of taxiing of arriving aircrafts at the Delta hub-based Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson Airport  The scope included a 72-hourt runway shutdown for the purpose of grading; electrical; concrete paving; and striping of new airport taxiway.
